THE BASIC JAPANESE MEAL MIGHT
CONSIST OF MISO SHIRU PLUS THREE [DISHES].
IT COMES IN MANY VARIETIES AND IS OFTEN EATEN AT BREAKFAST TIME. IT IS
FUNDAMENTALLY MADE FROM MISO PASTE AND FISH STOCK (DASHI). THESE CAN BE PURCHASED SEPARATELY OR TOGETHER

INGREDIENTS
CLASSIC MISO SOUP
Dashi (Instant)
Miso Paste
Small leek sliced very fine
Tofu Cubed.
Wakame Seaweed
strands.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
- Preparation time about 10 mins.
- Bring water to boil in pan. Turn down heat.
- Add Instant Dashi to produce a delicately flavoured fish
stock.
- Simmer with leek until tender
- Add the Tofu cubes and Wakame.
- Stir in Miso Paste. Don't boil. Add (1 -2
tablespoons) to taste. Do not be afraid to experiment. It should be
rich and thick.)
- Allow to heat through and serve.
- The pieces are normally eaten with chop-sticks and the
"soup" drunk from the bowl.
DELICICIOUS ONION AND POTATO MISO
SHIRU
For a warming and filling snack. Boil water, add Dashi and cook cubed
potatoes and sliced onions until soft. Add miso paste to taste and
eat.
TRY ALSO COMBINATIONS OF
Strips of pork, chicken, seafood, leeks, daikon, fried fish-balls and other
seaweed varieties.
